  4. Reform Act 1987, either parent can apply for
  5. a court order for maintenance of children, no
  6. distinction being made between legitimate and
  7. illegitimate children. In 1969 blood tests
  8. were first used to prove `non-paternity';
  9. they are not equally conclusive of paternity.
  10. Genetic fingerprinting was first used in 1988
  11. in Britain to prove paternity and thereby
  12. allow immigration to the UK.
